We checked out the UFC website for local holes in the wall to watch the fights since we were just bumming around in our sweatpants at home watching the prelims and didn't want a crazy bro night out at the bigger bars playing them.
The website confirmed The Thirsty Camel was nearby and confirmed they were playing the UFC card so off we went to check it out.
The bar was very small, as expected but obviously recently renovated with modern colours and interior. It was clean and dimly lit - an electric fireplace gave a nice cozy feel as we curled up in a booth to watch the fights.
The service was wonderful. Our server (who's name may have been Barbie?) was smiley, energetic and helpful and checked back on us often and took time for a little chat.
In between fights, there was a door prize draw - my boyfriend won a UFC tshirt :P
The menu was huge for a pub menu with a lot of asian and mexican inspired dishes. We started with the Perogie Rolls - which were springrolls with perogie filling. They needed ketchup... :/
I had the steak quesadilla with a side of guac. The quesadilla itself was huge and stuffed full of tender savoury steak and flavourful fillings like green pepper, onion and cheese. LOVED it. Could hardly finish it it was so fulling.
The guac was a bit disappointing. Lots of onion...not a lot of avocado so it made it impossible to spread or even pile on.
My boyfriend got a grilled chicken burger with yam fries. The fries were tasty and burger LOOKED fantastic, piled high with a nicely grilled chicken breast - but in hopes of going for the "healthier" he was bummed on the cheezewhiz type processed cheese melted all over it (like, drowning in cheeze sauce)
But the sound was GREAT for watching the fights, there was a TV to see at every seat. We might just have found our new go-to place to watch sports events! :D -

Went with people from work after our shift for some drinks and food. Served me the wrong beer, not a big deal, we ordered nachos with chicken... not so good. It's pretty hard to mess up nachos but they succeeded. Maybe the most dry chicken I have ever had, poor serving of cheese on the nachos and the actual chips seemed pretty stale. I would rate them maybe a 1 out of 10.
If you can't do nachos right one could only image what the rest of the food is like.
Most definitely will not be returning. -

I would have loved to review the Thirsty Camel, given their offering of a "low-carb" Mexican plate and the dry ribs, but we got there an hour before the Oilers game and so didn't qualify for the half-price deal.
So we're back home, watching the game on TV, eating some ahi tuna sashimi. So it goes. Several stars off for being stingy. -

I have only been here a couple of times on a Sunday usually after shopping. There's a ton of parking out front so you can always find a spot. The food here is basic bar fare but it's always good finger food to have during a game. They have all the basic beers and are starting to bring in a couple craft options. They don't have a lot of TVs but the ones they do have are good quality and at a good vantage point. I will be back on a Sunday to watch football and enjoy some cheese on bread.

We were so looking forward to the Thirsty Camel opening up and in the hope that it would become another of our locals.
Naturally, as it's a new venue there was a buzz in the first week of opening of it being full in the evenings.
We ventured out to Thirsty Camel just before the Christmas break for lunch; the venue is small.
The food is basic pub food and unfortunately the waitresses don't have that usual welcome and I love my job vibrance.
We ordered white wine spritzers and the glasses that they served them in appear to have just been washed as they was still dripping from water.
The menu is not that exciting nothing new to challenge the Canadian taste buds, so we went with the safe option ordering chicken wings and poutine, my favorite, and the ordered chicken quesadillas.
In short, my wings will undercooked i e too Pink with a little blood near the bone. My poutine, the fries are too thin so they over absorbed the gravy that made them more like mashed potatoes and it came served lukewarm so the curds did not melt. The waitresses did accommodate by providing me with a new poutine but by the time that that had arrived it wasn't enjoyable as I was already halfway through my wings when I had to stop eating those realising how uncooked they were. So at this point I didn't want to complain again.
The wife's quesadillas we're okay those are her words, would she order them again I asked, the reply was no and she also said she would not be in a hurry to come back to Thirsty Camel for lunch!
